RUNNING CLUBS

RUNNING clubs

Once you are up and running, joining a local running group is a good way of further developing your skills through training with other fell runners.

Groups will help you to pick up everything from the best warm up and cool down exercises, to how to pace, to some of the best local training routes. It can also be motivating and fun to run with other people on a regular basis.

“I joined Bingley Harriers when I was nine as I’d just started racing and so it made sense to go down and train with the other juniors. For me it’s been a great way of making friends – lifelong friends, as I’m still close to many of the people I met when I was younger.

Being part of a running club also means that you run as part of a team at fell races which adds to the fun and the competition.

I advocate running for your local club – most meet on a Tuesday and a Thursday with runners split up into groups by age or ability, so if you’re a newcomer it’s great for advice, coaching and meeting people at a similar level to yourself.”
